Known now in their family unit as 'The Squad’ Gillie and her 3 boys, Ben, Josh and Jacob live outside Oxford in the house she build in 1992.
Whilst in the Kalahari she drove the service vehicle through large expanses of desert, leaving markers where necessary for Adam who came slowly with the clients, she cooked 3 course meals on an open fire and created ovens in the ground to cook bread. She prepared the tents and beds for the clients and ………….. she slept deeply.
Three and a half years later SADA (Sophia’s Alpine Disabled
Adventures) the charity for disabled children was set up
running out of the chalet she had bought the year before. For several years she took large numbers of disabled
children to the French Alps to build up their
confidence by doing sports.
She won the Childline award for Great Britain in 1996. During this time
she was working in Oxford and was head hunted by Risk Decisions in 1990,
a risk analysis software company based in Oxford.
Starting as their Sales and Marketing manager, six months later she
became Sales and Marketing Director.
She set up Sophia Investments some years later having had her 3 boys, where she helped people to understand the art of investment and how to know what to invest in. This was bought on by her own mistakes and learnings.
In 2011 she became part of PIN (Property Investors Network) where she won the 2011 Mastermind year course. She now coaches and travels the country speaking on her journey and various property strategies.
Gillie in her desire to help everyone believe in themselves understands that stability is crucial in lives and that ‘a Home’ is something everyone should have. She therefore has set out to find and acquire homes for others, specifically the vulnerable. She has recently set up Creating Homes, with a mission statement ‘To create a home of love and a future of Hope’. This has been set up with Gillie and her Joint Venture Partner Neil Cuthbert, who amongst many other things has helped thousands of people worldwide using microfinance to create jobs, stability and hope.
Gillie helped to run the Alpha course in prisons for 7 years and has written two books.
