Many haven’t been far in the last 2 years…
Related either to fear or control.
I have found myself amongst those not venturing far, partly because during the 2nd lockdown I was busy reinventing myself in the world of business.
However, in September I managed 4 days in an incredible village on the island of Corfu where I ‘stayed put’ for the whole time. Yet, I still managed to get answers to questions relating to planning and Greek law.
It is incredible what you can do in just a few days!
All at the same time as doing very little whilst lazing by a pool and looking at the stunning views of the sun over the sea and Albania
But getting real rest is achieving an awful lot, especially when we race around most of the time trying to fix everything, help those who are lost find direction and generally help to create peace in a place of so much chaos.
This place I found myself in was extraordinary
It seemed far from the land of fear and stress that I had come from, where all were accepting, gracious and calm and beauty and peace seemed to be real once again
With land on the island of Samos and potential to do a relatively big project elsewhere in Greece, it was an opportunity to find out how Greece welcomed Brits creating business that would generate more money through visiting tourists.
I found out from the gentleman (who was German) who built the villa I was staying in and those around us, that he had been given grants for half the cost of his build, due only to the fact that building villas encouraged more visitors.
This was incredible news
I planned to (when home) find out what criteria had to be met to qualify for similar grants.
I also found out that wooden structures in Greece (probably up to a certain size) don’t need planning, which again was awesome to know as part of our plan was to build wooden structures.
So it was 4 days of utter rest together with Due diligence which made the trip worth-while many times over.
It was so amazing to be in a different space, place, location.
To breath in different air and have the scent of olives all around, to watch the sun set over the sea and the island and to dodge the odd bat as it dived low over the pool.
It was needed and appreciated
Just 4 days, but enough to put breath back in my lungs, strength and vision in my head, peace and purpose redefined in my heart and passion surrounding it all.
